Imse Vimse Wool Cover
Our Price:
$24.95 each
Imse Vimse makes great polyurethane laminate (PUL) covers and
an even more perfect wool cover.  These
machine washable wool
covers are made of super soft virgin lambswool.  They have a long
lasting velcro adjusting fit, and the velcro is the softest we've seen.
The legs have double gussets, which really help keep messes in.

Imse Vimse covers are a favorite cover to use over prefolds.  You can
snappi your prefold, or just fold it into thirds and lay it inside this
cover for a quick, easy, and inexpensive diapering system!

Wool allows your baby's skin to breathe, is warm in the winter, cool
in the summer, antimicrobial, and doesn't retain odors.  Wool comes
from a renewable resource (sheep!) and needs to be washed only
every 2 weeks or when soiled.
Imse Vimse wool covers will most likely
be restocked around middle or end of July, 2008.
(We are sorry for the delay!  They were first expected in March!)

Our Experience

This wool cover is one of our favorites for so many
reasons... This cover make using wool so easy!  Finally,
a machine washable wool cover that fits great without a
lot of bulk!  These are just fantastic covers to use over
prefolds.  We just fold the prefold into thirds and lay it in
the cover.  It is so soft and the velcro isn't scratchy!  The
soft velcro tab is large, which means the fit is extremely
adjustable.  These covers are generally bulky for
newborns, however.  For a great newborn wool cover, we
recommend the
Stacinator Stretch Wool Day/Night cover.

General Care

Wool is so easy to care for.  It should be washed every
one to two weeks, or when soiled.  To keep it leak proof,
wool should be lanolized about once a month.

Washing
Wash on your washer's gentlest cycle with lukewarm
water and a tablespoon of Northern Essence's liquid
wool wash.  Spin dry, but do not rinse!

Lanolizing
Submerge the cover in a sink full of lukewarm water with
the inside facing up.  Take 1/2 teaspoon of lanolin, 1
teaspoon of your favorite baby soap, and place both in
1/2-1 cup of water and microwave until the lanolin is
runny (30-90 seconds).  Now shake the mixture until it
becomes a milky white color.  If there are still visible
globs of lanolin in the mixture, add more baby soap and
shake again until the lanolin is completely emulsified
and the mixture is milky white.  Pour over your cover.
Swish the cover around in the water, let it soak for 20-30
minutes, roll in towel to dry, squeeze out excess
moisture, but do not rinse.  Hang or lay flat until dry.

The inside of the cover will be sticky to the touch for the
first day or so.

How much lanolin you add depends on how long you
want to go before relanolizing.  The more lanolin you add
(up to 1 1/2 teaspoons), the more sticky the cover will be,
but the longer it will repel liquids.

Wool Wash Bar
Use a wool wash bar to clean off messes from your wool
cover instead of washing.  Just hang dry.
How to prepare for first use

Wool covers should be washed and then lanolized
before their first use.  See directions above.
