FAQ
Are Maclaren buggys expensive? Maclaren buggys provide excellent value for the parent who is concerned
with having a high quality, safe and convenient buggy for their child.
There is a significant difference in quality between a cheap buggy and
a Maclaren, and you always get what you pay for! Our products are built
to provide you with many years of functional use.
Inter-generational use of our products is the norm. Maclaren buggys are
designed with baby’s safety and comfort foremost, with ease of use and
convenience next. All Maclaren products are made with materials that
meet our rigorous standards for quality. These standards allow us to
put out products we are proud to put our name on.
What are the differences between all the Maclaren models? Maclaren offers a range of styles to match your family’s personal
taste. Also, some models are appropriate for a child from birth, and
some are appropriate from the age of 3 to 6 months and onward. The
models also differ in operating features, such as seat recline, viewing
windows, height adjustable handles and extendable leg rests. Note that
additional features sometimes translate into increased product weight
or size. See the Buggy Comparison Chart for an overview of the differences.
How long can I use my Maclaren Buggy? Until what age and/or weight? Maclaren buggys are designed and tested to hold up to a 15 kg/33 lbs
(55 lbs US) child; the twins are tested to hold up to 15 kg/33 lbs (55
lbs US) each side. Most children determine at what age they no longer
want to be in a buggy. Some children want to walk when they’re two,
others when they’re five. We suggest you let your child guide the usage
of your buggy.
How do I open and close a Maclaren Buggy? Maclaren buggys have been designed to be easily closed by a busy
parent. The single seat buggys can be closed with one hand. For an
illustration of the Maclaren “5-second Fold”, please watch the following animation.
What is the best way to transport my Maclaren Buggy when travelling by air? Due to its lightweight, compact fold Maclaren Buggys are one of the
only buggys welcome on airlines. This also makes the buggys ideal for
carrying onboard. Alternatively, you can check your buggy at the gate
before boarding your plane. Remember, however, to affix a luggage tag
as Maclaren buggys are quite popular. If you are checking your buggy
through, we recommend investing in a carry bag to protect your
buggy. Maclaren offers durable carry bags built especially for Maclaren
single and twin buggys.
Why is there no snack tray or bumper bar for my Maclaren Buggy? The front bumper bars on buggys are not designed to keep a child in
their buggy, nor are they effective at keeping a child in their buggy.
The 5-point safety harness that is standard on all Maclaren buggys is
designed to safely keep your child in their seat. Additionally, the
seat of the Maclaren is angled down at the back (not parallel to the
ground) so your child’s weight is naturally in the back and down,
adding further difficulty to a child’s desire to pull themselves
forward or lean out.
How do I wash the buggy seat fabric? Look for the fabric care instructions label on your seat. Most seats
are designed to be hand washed in cold water, or sponge cleaned.
Can I hang things from the handles? Although the design of Maclaren handles are quite inviting to
hang things from, you should never hang things (bags, packages, purses,
handbags) from your buggys’ handles as it may cause the buggy to become
unstable or place undue stress on the buggy that could lead to
breakage. All Maclaren buggys come with a shopping basket to hold
required items
Do all Maclaren buggys have brakes? Yes, all Maclaren buggys have dual brakes for added safety. The brakes
are found on the both rear wheels, and are operated by pushing a
lever/levers with your foot. Even though our brakes are easy to
operate, please never leave your child unattended on even the slightest
incline, for safety’s sake.
Don’t I need a bumper bar to keep my child safely in the buggy?
The front bumper bars on buggys are not designed to keep a child in
their buggy, nor are they effective at keeping a child in their buggy.
The 5-point safety harness that is standard on all Maclaren buggys is
designed to safely keep your child in his seat. Additionally, the seat
of the Maclaren is angled down at the back (not parallel to the ground)
so your child’s weight is naturally in the back and down, adding
further difficulty to a child’s desire to pull himself forward or lean
out.
I’m tall; will a Maclaren Umbrella buggy be comfortable to push? Most umbrella-style buggys have short handles, which can cause back
strain on any sized parent, making a walk with their child unpleasant.
All Maclaren buggys are designed with comfortably positioned, tall
handles, which make our buggys pleasant to push for parents. Our unique
design also ensures parents don’t kick the back of the buggy whilst
walking. With handle heights of 41" to 43" (102 - 107 cm), Maclaren
designers want to ensure comfort for both parent and baby. Our Techno
XT, and Maclaren MX3 have height adjustable handles, for increased
flexibility and comfort.
